It's about 15k. I'm considering bankruptcy as well, but only because I know that the monthly payments I can afford are way below what a credit counselor would advise or what my creditors would accept, and my income isn't changing anytime soon so there's no chance of offering higher payments to them.
References :
Read this article http://customsites.yahoo.com/financiallyfit/finance/article-107752-2691-0-how-one-family-shed-106000-in-debt . These people had $100K in cc debt and paid it all off. So it's possible and bankruptcy is not your only option. But you have to sacrifice a lot if you want to overcome it without bankruptcy.
References :
Maybe $3k, but we've had some unexpected medical bills as well as auto repairs that we had to pay off.

It wasn't built up by buying shit we didn't need.
References :
I have average-high amount of credit card debts as well if its in my currency. Converted will be USD5k at least. But still i getting a hardtime to pay it.
After been reading and getting advises from different wise financial peoples, I finally come to a conclusion on how to pay it off (not fully 100% financial independence). Well at least to decrease your burden.

I applied personal loan (amount maybe vary as they will have to go through your financial background and your salary-wise before the bank approved your application) from bank with small interest. As compare to credit card interest is wayyyy higher than personal loan.
So once you got the money, pay off your credit cards debts and now you can pay off your personal loan slowly and with less interest depends on how long you can take. Some banks can go up to 7-10yrs payback.
Thats how i did back in my country and a few of my friends have tried this as well and they are not debt-free but at least credit card (evil) free.

Please also dont use so much different credit cards. I guess the max everyone should have is 3.

Anyone have other suggestion?
References :
Mine is close to zero, and always stays like that. The reason is that I don't put anything on my credit card that I can't pay back! It's pretty easy.
References :
How much is your credit card debt?
How much is your credit card debt? I am just curious if i'm the only one out there with a significantly high amount of credit card debt, ($33k). This debt has accumulated over several of years by financial hardship. I am trying my best to pay it off, but it seems like i'm never gonna get out of this hole! I'm seriously thinking of filing for bankruptcy! Anybody overcame this experience successfully without filing? By the way, i already spoke to a Credit Consumer Counseling and my payments would have been the same as i'm paying now. =\
